Brown Ale – English/American Hybrid
This English – American hybrid brown ale balances the scales between restrained malt presence and hop-centric flavor and aroma by bringing together a combination of brewing heritages. American pale malt combined with dark crystal and a touch of aromatic and black malts bring dry caramel and light toffee notes to the table, while wheat malt rounds out the mouth feel. A liberal addition of brown sugar to the brew kettle adds complexity. Balancing the malt profile are additions of Challenger hops for bitterness and Centennial and Chinook hops for flavor and aroma after fementation. Fermented with an English ale yeast, malt plays the leading role supported by restrained hoppiness and a lightly fruity yeast character. ABV just north of 6%/30 IBU’s/.5 lbs. of Centennial and Chinook for dry hoping.
