Discover Our Story
Alta in Spanish means“over” or “above”. Our primary goal is to create beers that are
“above expectation”, and some, hopefully“over the top”.
Historically, San Diego was part of a geographical region known as Alta California – the northern part of the three Californias. The history includes periods of Spanish conquest and Mexican independence until it seceded to the United States. In fact, a section of the original El Camino Real ran very close to where the brewery is being constructed.
ABC will produce a core line-up of beer that captures as many palates in five glasses as possible. Light to dark, hoppy to malty, and with various alcohol contents. The core beers will be a nitro-driven blonde ale, pale ale, IPA, dry-hopped brown ale and dry Irish stout.
Seasonal offerings will span the scope of brewing imagination, released every few months. And, as Alta gets established, a small amount of production will be reserved for high-end, longer production time beers available for limited release.
